The Ajanta and Ellora Caves are located near Aurangabad in northern Maharashtra, around 400 kilometers (250 miles) from Mumbai. There are 34 caves at Ellora dating from between the 6th and 11th centuries AD, and 29 caves at Ajanta dating back to between the 2nd century BC and 6th century AD.

The structure is a basalt arch, 26 metres (85 feet) high. It lies at the end of Chhatrapati Shivaji Marg at the water's edge in Mumbai Harbour.

Maharashtra
The state was founded in the year 1960 after the Samyuktha Maharashtra movement. Verdant hills, scenic coastal plains and busy industrial centres make up the varied state of Maharastra. This state covers 3000,000 sq km and nests in the Western Ghats.
This land is known for being the birth place of the valorous king Chatarapati Shivaji. Forts and caves mark the important heritage of this state. The capital Bombay was once an archipelago of seven islands: Bombay Island, Parel, Mazagaon, Mahim, Colaba, Worli, ad Old Woman’s Island.
The beautiful state is nestled in the lap of the Deccan Plateau and is also home to many fishing communities.
